Shiva Sena (UBT) MP Priyanka Chaturvedi, commenting on the recent violence in Thane’s Mira road, Maharashtra, alleged that “communal clashes help one and only one party, BJP”.

The Shiva Sena MP then asks the people residing in Mumbai to see through the plot laid by the BJP against the state and its interests.

Taking to her X handle, she wrote, “Communal clashes help one and only one party which has patented Britishers Divide and Rule policy, it is the BJP. Hope Maharashtra, especially Mumbaikars see through this dangerous ploy against the state and its interests”.

Responding to journalist Kunal Purohit’s post alleging that the Mira road riot is going to be the recreation of the 1992/3 riot, she added her comment.

He wrote, “The #MiraRoad riots lay bare a thinly disguised secret: After having put the 1992/3 riots behind, Mumbai has been, yet again, actively transformed into a communal cauldron. This has been in the works for the last couple of years. A thread:”.

In the following post he wrote that in his investigation of Maharashtra’s communal politics, he found that 41 hate incidents have been reported from Maharashtra, in which 13 happened in Mumbai and Thane.

The communal riot-prone area Mira Road is situated in Thane. The hate crime includes assaults for not saying Jai Shree Ram to clashed around Ram Navami.
Briefing the hate crime incidents in the state, he wrote, “Mangal Prabhat Lodha, made Guardian Minister, has floated conspiracies around “land jihad”, “love jihad” and “Hindu exodus” without offering any evidence. BJP leaders barged into a school last year, disrupting an all-faith prayer meet because it also featured an Ayaan. Apart from this, other leaders like Nitesh Rane frequently deliver hate speeches outside Mumbai which get widely reported in the media here.”

He then alleges that these hate crimes in the society have coincided with the rapid influx of Hindutva Pop Culture into the city”s consciousness.

“All this keeps the pot boiling and ensures people vote on issues of religion, not around Mumbai”s crumbling infrastructure, neither around blatant attempts to take over its open spaces. Who does this benefit? You won”t need to think hard.,” Kunal concluded.
