New Delhi: The Parliament is witnessing a protest against another protest amidst Home Minister Amit Shah’s remarks regarding Dr. BR Ambedkar during the Constitution debate in the Rajya Sabha. As Congress staged a protest demanding an apology and resignation from Shah, the BJP, in response, also held a protest march accusing the grand old party of insulting the Dalit icon.
In light of the chaotic situation, both the Houses have been adjourned till 2 pm.

Union Minister Kiren Rijiju slammed Congress MP Rahul Gandhi for allegedly “assaulting” BJP MP Pratap Sarangi who claimed to be injured in the incident. Rijiju claimed that another BJP MP, Mukesh Rajput, was also “seriously injured” and asked Gandhi, “Have you learnt karate, kung fu, to beat other MPs?”
Meanwhile, the Leader of Opposition responded that a group of BJP MPs were blocking him from entering the Parliament, shoving him and issued threats against him and party president Mallikarjun Kharge. Congress accused the BJP of “sheer hooliganism” for stopping opposition MPs from entering the House with “sticks and placards” in their hands.

Chants of ‘Jai Bhim’ resonated as both Congress and BJP clashed against each other at the Parliament premises. As opposition MPs came dressed in deep blue colours, symbolising Dalit resistance, the BJP MPs took out a separate march holding pictures of Ambedkar.
Mallikarjun Kharge, Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha, moved a privilege motion against Amit Shah for “insulting” remarks against BR Ambedkar.

The uproar began when Shah said that taking Dr. BR Ambedkar’s name had become a “fashion” now. “If they took God’s name so many times, they would have got a place in heaven,” he said.
Soon enough, a protest erupted outside the Parliament with opposition MPs staging a protest, demanding his resignation and an apology for disrespecting the Dalit icon.
