
Telangana: Monkeys Damage Idol, Right-Wing Groups Attack Madrasa Based On Suspicion
Sangareddy, Telangana: On Wednesday, April 23, some right-wing elements allegedly attacked Madrasa Arabia Taleem-ul-Quran, located at Jinnaram village in Sangareddy district. The incident occurred after an idol was found vandalised in a nearby under-construction Shiva temple, as the rumours were spread that Madrasa students were involved in damaging the idol.
A group of local Hindutva activists reached the Muslim seminary and raised Jai Shri Ram slogans. After the police dispersed the mob, they headed to a nearby dargah and damaged the chadar at the shrine, leading to the tension and deployment of additional forces from neighbouring Vikarabad and Medak districts.

Notably, police has now found that the idol had been damaged by a group of monkeys on April 19. Reviewing the CCTV footage, the officials concluded that it was monkeys that had pushed the idol, causing damage, independent research platform HindutvaWatch reports.

The temple was located close to the madrasa in the village, and after locals noticed idols of deities damaged in the temple, they suspected the madrasa students. At least 80 children were staying and studying in the madrasa, and all are safe, according to Paritosh Pankaj, Sangareddy district SP.

The police appealed to the people not to believe in rumours, assuring them that action would be initiated against those who are “fomenting trouble” in the village.
All India Majlis e Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) MLA Kauser Mohiuddin and MBT spokesperson Amjedullah Khan reached Jannaram and met the police officials.
