Chelakkara Sees High Voter Turnout As U R Pradeep Seeks Re-Election
Chelakkara, Thrissur: Polling in the Assembly constituency went on smoothly as part of the Kerala Assembly Elections 2026. People came in large numbers to cast their votes all day. Many women and first-time voters exercised their democratic right. The officials said that the voting was conducted peacefully.
Chelakkara is in Thrissur district and is part of the Alathur Lok Sabha constituency. In Chelakkara, there are 2,03,254 eligible voters this year, including 98,424 men and 1,04,830 women. During the 2021 assembly elections, there were 1,98,086 voters including 95,792 men and 1,02,294 women voters, indicating a steady increase in voter numbers this year.

Notably, the number of female voters is also increasing in the constituency. The election was held on April 9, and the results will be declared on May 4.
The constituency saw a very fierce battle, as U R Pradeep from the CPI(M) sought to retain his sitting seat, while Congress’ C. C. Sreekumar and NDA’s K Balakrishnan campaigned hard to capture the constituency.
