Local media have reported that the rape convict had allegedly reduced his weight before the prison break by eating only Chapatis. The criminal might have done so to make it easier for him to overcome the hurdles of the fenced compound wall of the prison. Surprisingly, Govindachami had allegedly pasted salt into the iron cells to melt them, reported Media One.

Several, including the mother of the rape victim, have raised the suspicion that someone from inside the jail might have helped the rapist to come out of the cells and escape from the highly secured wall of the central jail, ruling out the possibility of the convict’s sole role in the incident.

However, following the serious security issue, three prison officers have been suspended with immediate effect in connection with the jailbreak of Govindachami, as per an order issue by DIG (Prisons), North Zone.
