Idukki Records Steady Turnout Of 77.15%, Plantation Belt Shows Fierce LDF-UDF Battle
Idukki, Kerala: Idukki district, which has five Assembly constituencies, recorded a voter turnout of 77.15% in the 2026 Kerala Assembly elections, slightly higher than the overall state average of around 76.29%.
Among the constituencies, Udumbanchola recorded the highest turnout at 79.51%. The CPI(M) continues the party’s strong presence in the region. Devikulam also registered relatively high participation at 77.87%, reflecting consistent voter mobilisation in plantation areas where labour and welfare issues remain central.
Other constituencies saw moderate turnout, including Peerumade at 77.52% and Thodupuzha at 75.97%, where contests between the LDF and UDF remain competitive. Idukki recorded the lowest turnout in the district at 75.40%, indicating relatively lower voter mobilisation compared to neighbouring segments.
While the LDF has a historically strong base in parts of the district, the overall turnout does not clearly indicate an advantage for any single front. The final outcome is likely to depend on constituency-level vote consolidation in this politically significant high-range region.
