Thiruvananthapuram Sees Strong Polling, Urban Constituencies Lead Turnout
Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala: In the 2026 Kerala Assembly elections, the average voter turnout in Thiruvananthapuram district was 76.98%. Some important constituencies had very high levels of participation.
Kattakada had the highest turnout at 80.72%, followed closely by Nemom at 80.62%. In Nemom, one of the most closely watched constituencies this election, there were long lines at several polling places all day, which shows that people were very keen in utilising their democratic rights
Urban districts in the district had higher voter turnout than some rural areas, which is not what usually happens. Attingal had the lowest turnout at 73.74%, and Varkala and Chirayinkeezh also had lower participation rates.
Other important areas, like Vattiyoorkavu (76.9%) and Kazhakkoottam (78.67%), also had steady polling, showing that a lot of people were voting in the district.

However, the voting process in the constituency was marked by highly competitive races within many constituencies as all three main political formations expressed hope about the chances of their victory.
It should be mentioned that the situation in Nemom was extremely heated with contestants from the LDF, UDF, and NDA parties fighting for victory. The election day was calm except for the occasional political exchange; nonetheless, celebrities such as actor Mohanlal voted early.
With the high voter turnout in important urban constituencies and the contests in all the seats, it is evident that there was an electorate that took politics very seriously. It cannot be seen that there was an outright winning front; rather, the winner will emerge based on votes in the constituencies.
