Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala: The Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) is all set to launch an ‘airline model’ business class bus service in the state. The project would have promised speed and luxury to the travelers while also offering a premium experience. It will even have a hostess on board.
The initiative is expected to roll out upon the completion of the NH 66 widening work. For the project, the state government is envisaging custom-designed coaches and on-board amenities, reflecting the comfort of a business-class flight.

A hostess will be deployed, and light food will be served to passengers. For the purpose, the KSRTC is acquiring two 25-seater luxury buses featuring air suspension for a super-smooth ride, and the tendering process will begin soon. The government is in talks with companies in Vietnam and China to import specially designed, electronically operated reclining seats for the project, and one key feature of the interior will be that the seating would be its luxury, reports The New Indian Express.
Transport Minister K B Ganesh Kumar said that the seats are intended to offer maximum comfort, much like those found in an airline’s business cabin. “Each seat will have a smart TV and headphones. Passengers can connect their Android devices to play their own content or enjoy KSRTC-provided selections like songs and comedy film scenes,” the media house quoted the minister.

Another key attraction of the upcoming KSRTC launch will be its airline-style food service, with a hostess and small pantry with a microwave, ensuring hot food for passengers who pre-order meals with their tickets or purchase them on board.
The service may cover the Thiruvananthapuram-Ernakulam sector in just a few four hours as a non-stop express service, making the commute faster too. It is expected to take full advantage of the improved NH infrastructure. The only planned stops will be at a chosen hotel or restroom for the primary needs of the commuters, according to the minister.
