These Six Malayalis Cleared UPSC Civil Service Exams

The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) announced the results of the Civil Services Examination today, with many Malayalis proudly securing success in the prestigious exam.

Out of 1,009 candidates, Shakti Dubey secured the top rank in this year’s selection list. Among the many who made it to the top 60, seven Malayali candidates also earned their place, marking a proud moment for the state. These Malayali candidates had secured the following ranks:  Alfred Thomas (33), R Monicka (39), P Pavithra (42), Malavika G Nair (45), G P Nandana (47), and Sonnet Jose (54).

Pala native Alfred Thomas who had secured the 33rd rank is the son of Thomas Antony and Tessie Thomas of Parappally Karikamkunnel, Pala, and completed his education in Delhi.

Malavika G. Nair, a native of Chengannur currently residing in Manjeri, Malappuram, has achieved the 45th rank in the UPSC Civil Services Examination 2024. This accomplishment is particularly remarkable as it was her final attempt, and she undertook the Mains examination just 14 days after giving birth. A 2019–20 batch Indian Revenue Service (IRS) officer, Malavika has been serving as a Deputy Commissioner.

In the UPSC examination held in 2023, several Malayali candidates had secured top ranks showcasing their strong presence in the national landscape. Sidharth Ramkumar – AIR 4. Vishnu Sasikumar – AIR 31, P.P. Archana – AIR 40, R. Ramya – AIR 45, Benjo P. Jose – AIR 59,  Fabi Rasheed – AIR 71, Annie George – AIR 93 are the candidates from Kerala who had secured ranks under 100.

The CSE examination is conducted annually in three stages- preliminary, main and interview by the UPSC to select officers for the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Police Service (IPS) among others. The preliminary examination was held on June 16 last year with a total of 9,92,599 candidates applying and 5,83,213 appearing. Out of this, 14,627 candidates qualified for the mains examination in September. 2,845 candidates qualified for the personality test or interview.
