UDF Sets Stage For Historic Victory In Kerala Local Body Elections As Counting Continues

The United Democratic Front (UDF) is firmly on the road to a historic victory in the Kerala Local Body Elections 2025, as the latest trends at 12:40 pm show the front taking a clear lead across all major tiers of local governance.

While the contest began as a close fight among the LDF, UDF and NDA, the UDF has steadily widened its advantage as counting progresses.

In corporations, out of 6, the UDF is leading in 4, while the LDF leads in 1, and the NDA lead in one corporation. The strong UDF showing in key urban centres has emerged as a major highlight of the counting day.

In the 87 municipalities across the state, the UDF has taken a commanding lead in 54 municipalities, compared to 29 for the LDF and 1 for the NDA, further strengthening its overall position.

The UDF is also ahead in the district (zilla) panchayats, leading in 8 out of 14, while the LDF leads in 6. In block panchayats, the UDF continues its edge with leads in 79 blocks, compared to 66 for the LDF.

At the grassroots level, across 941 grama panchayats, the UDF is leading in 456, followed by the LDF in 368, while the NDA leads in 29 panchayats.

The elections were held in two phases on December 9 and 11, covering 12,931 wards in 604 local bodies, with over 2.86 crore voters participating. As counting continues, current trends clearly indicate that the UDF is heading towards one of its strongest-ever performances in Kerala local body elections, signaling a major political shift ahead of future state-level contests.
