Congress' Balwant Wankhade Wins From Amravati Lok Sabha constituency

Congress candidate Balwant Wankhade won from the Amravati Lok Sabha constituency by defeating the BJP controversial candidate Navneet Rana by a margin of 19,731 votes.

Congress' Balwant Wankhade Wins From Amravati Lok Sabha constituency

Balwant Baswant Wankhade, Congress candidate from Amravati won the Lok Sabha poll by securing 526,271 votes. He defeated BJP candidate Navneet Rana by a margin of 19,731 votes.

Congress candidate Balwant Baswant Wankhade is the member of Maharashtra Legislative assembly from the Daryapur Vidhan Sabha constituency. He has earlier contested the election from Amravati in 2019 as an independent candidate.

Navneet Rana, actor turned politician was fielded as the BJP candidate from the constituency. She was elected as the MP from Amravati in 2019 Lok Sabha election where she contested as an independent candidate. Earlier in NCP ticket, she had contested the 2014 election but was unable to win the seat.

Historically, the BJP has an upper hand in the constituency. In the 2014 Lok Sabha election, BJP has contested in 26 seats and won 23. While the undivided Shiv Sena contested in 22 seats and won 18. The election was fought jointly by BJP and Shiv Sena.

Shiv Sena’s Adsul Anandrao Vithoba retained the seat by garnering 467,212 votes. While in 2019 elections, 24 candidates including 15 independent candidates contested from Amravati. Navneet Rana won the seat by securing 5,10,947 votes. It came as a major surprise to many as the seat has been won by Shiv Sena for the past 25 years. Shiv Sena’s Anandrao Adsul came second woth 4,73,996 votes.

The trend shows that the Maha Vikas Agadhi has toppled the exit poll results and is leading in the state sweeping majority of the seats.
