
Lok Sabha Election Results 2024: June Maliah Wins Medinipur Lok Sabha Seat With A Margin Of 27,191
June Maliah has won the Lok Sabha Election 2024 from the Medinipur Lok Sabha constituency with a total of 27,191 vote margin. BJP candidate Agnimitra Paul has secured second place in the Medinipur constituency.
TMC chose June Maliah to compete in the Medinipur Lok Sabha constituency against Paul. Till 2014, the Medinipur Lok Sabha seat was a Communist Party stronghold since then the parliamentary seat was taken over by the TMC and BJP candidates respectively.
During the 2009 elections, the Medinipur constituency was won over by the CPI candidate Prabodh Panda with 47.29% votes and Trinamool Congress candidate Dipak Kumar Ghosh came second with 42.68% votes. And the BJP candidate Pradip Patnaik came third with a 4.99% vote.
In 2014, the Trinamool Congress candidate registered victory with an overall 46.50% votes while the CPI candidate Prabodh Panda slipped to the second position with 31.36% votes. The Communist Party observed a loss of 15.93% votes in that parliamentary election. The BJP candidate Prabhakar Tiwari reached the third position.
The 2019, elections remained historic for BJP the party which obtained only 4.99% votes 10 years ago became successful in securing 48.62% votes and defeated all other parties. BJP candidate Dilip Ghosh won the election and TMC candidate Manas Bhunia secured the runner-up position with 42.13%votes. The CPI reached the third rank with only 4.42% votes.
