Lok Sabha Election Results 2024: TMC Candidate Arup Chakraborty Wins In Bankura With 32778 Votes

Trinamool Congress Candidate Arup Chakraborty has won the Lok Sabha Election 2024 from the Bankura Lok Sabha constituency with a total of 32,778 vote margin. Swapan Majumdar Of Bhartiya Janta Party has secured second place.

A gynecologist by profession, Dr Subhas Sarkar won the Bankura constituency with a BJP ticket and served as the Union Minister of State in the Ministry of Education under the last government.

In 2019, Subhas Sarkar won the election from Bankura Lok Sabha elections on the BJP ticket with an overall 49.2% votes, while AITC candidate Subrata Mukherjee and CPI (M) candidate Amiya Patra secured second and third positions respectively.

In 2014, TMC candidate Moon Moon Sen won the election and secured 39.10% votes while CPI (M) candidate Basudeb Acharia secured 31.05% votes to secure the second position. The BJP candidate Subhas Sarkar secured third place with 20.31% votes.

In 2004, the CPI (M) candidate Basudeb Acharia won the constituency with 47.66 percent votes whereas the INC candidate Subrata Mukherjee received 36.71% votes. A remarkable shift was observed in the Congress and CPI (M) support in Bankura as both the prominent parties of the Lok Sabha constituency lost a heavy vote share and were surpassed by the TMC and BJP candidates.
