Aggrieved by heart-wrenching stories from tragedy-hit Wayanad, Harini Sri, a 13-year-old girl from Tamil Nadu performed Bharatanatyam for three straight hours in her effort to raise funds for the affected.

The commitment of the young girl towards the devastated people by the recent massive landslide came to the limelight when the Information Public Relations (IPRD) department of the Kerala government posted it on its official social media handle.

In its X handle, the department wrote that a 13-year-old girl child from Tamil Nadu, Harini Sri, performed Bharatanatyam for 3 hours straight to raise funds for the Wayanad landslide. By performing the Bharatanatyam, the girl raised around Rs 15,000 which included her previous savings too. On Thursday, the girl gave donation to the Chief Minister’s Distress Relief Fund (CMDRF). Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan also met the the girl and showered his blessing.

The distinct and thoughtful method through which the girl raised funds for the people of Wayanad has been applauded by netizens, highlighting that she did the maximum in her capacity. Many including celebrities, businessmen, charity organisations and the public have been contributing to the relief fund, which currently reached over Rs 53 crores.

The death toll from the massive landslide that hit Chooralmala and Mundakkai in Wayanad on July 30 crossed 400, with many still reported to be missing. Army personnel have been conducting search operations to find the remaining. Hundreds of houses were destroyed while several places of worship, buildings and other properties were also washed away. The government has allowed anyone who wants to be part of the search operation to join the team.

The Army is all set to leave the site after conducting a ten-day-long rescue operation, and the operation will be now spearheaded by the NDRF, SDRF, Fire Force, and Kerala police.

As the Indian Army, after completing a ten-day-long rescue operation, is set to leave, the rescue operation will be handed over to the forces of the NDRF, SDRF, Fire Force, and Kerala police. The rescue team is currently using the Air Force helicopter to airlift people, personnel and other essential items.
