T20 World Champions Team India was felicitated at the Wankhede Stadium on Thursday after a long day that started with meeting PM Narendra Modi at his residence.
The members of the Team India squad reached the iconic Wankhede Stadium after an open-top bus parade from the National Centre for Performing Arts (NCPA) in Nariman Point.
After their arrival at the stadium and initial celebrations, Team India captain Rohit Sharma, head coach Rahul Dravid, man-of-the-match in the final Virat Kohli, and T20 World Cup 2024 player of the match Jasprit Bumrah expressed their emotions about the historic victory.
“Mumbai never disappoints,” says the Indian captain as the players make their way inside the Wankhede Stadium. “The huge turnout of fans to welcome us shows they were as desperate for this T20 World Cup title as we were.”
“I am going to miss this love. What I saw on streets tonight, I won’t forget it,” says India’s outgoing head coach Rahul Dravid at the Wankhede Stadium.
“I couldn’t connect with the emotions of the seniors, who cried that night (after the 2011 World Cup triumph), but now I do,” says Virat Kohli on the 2024 T20 World Cup triumph.
“What I saw today, I have never seen anything like this,” Player of the tournament, Jasprit Bumrah said.
