Gautam Gambhir is all set to begin his new innings as the head coach of the Indian men’s cricket team. Virat Kohli, who is currently enjoying his vacation with family in London, was a surprise inclusion in the ODI team. The addition of the player came after speculation that he would be rested for the white-ball series.
After the Indian team was announced for the Sri Lankan tour, Cricbuzz has reported that Virat Kohli is comfortable to work with Gambhir with whom he has had some heated altercations during the Indian Premier League (IPL) matches in the past.

Kohli and Gambhir had shared some heated moments and even came visible on multiple occasions in the IPL. However, bringing on relief, Cricbuzz reported, “Kohli is believed to have stated that previous issues will not affect their professional relationship in the dressing room” and that he has “communicated this clearly to the relevant BCCI officials.”
As per the report, the discussion on the issue was possibly held after the T20 World Cup final.
Both Rohit as well as Kohli will be part of the squad for the 50-over leg of the tour, in which Rohit will continue to lead the team. Suryakumar Yadav was named the T20 captain since Rohit has retired from T20Is.
