Facebook parent company Meta is making its AI chatbot, the Meta AI assistant, available to its users in India. It is rolling out on applications like WhatsApp, Facebook, Instagram and Messenger and website Meta.AI. The company’s move came after Google’s Gemini was introduced in India a week ago.
Meta has introduced AI chatbot over two months ago and is available in several countries including Canada, Australia, and Singapore.

“Meta AI, one of the world’s leading AI assistants, now arrives in India on WhatsApp, Facebook, Messenger, Instagram, and meta.ai. And it’s built with Meta Llama 3, our most advanced LLM to date,” Meta said in a statement.
Users can interact directly with Meta AI where its general-purpose assistant is equipped in answering questions and providing real-time information powered by Google and Microsoft’s Bing. The chatbot can be used in handling tasks such as writing texts, generating images, and summarising long pieces of writing. It can also used to create animations.

Besides, Meta AI has been integrated into the search bar of Instagram, Messenger and Facebook. And for Facebook users, chatbot can be accessed while scrolling through the app’s main feed.

It was at last year’s Connect, Meta at first announced about their AI chatbot and since April, it has been bringing the latest version of Meta AI built with Llama 3 to users worldwide, PTI reports.
Last week, Google announced that it is launching the Gemini mobile app in India, and it will be available in over nine languages: Hindi, Bengali, Kannada, Marathi, Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, Urdu, and Gujarati.
