Cigarette Burns, Nail Injury: One-Year-Old Child From Gaza Allegedly Targeted By Israeli Forces
A deeply disturbing report emerging from central Gaza has triggered widespread outrage, after claims that a toddler was subjected to severe abuse during the detention and interrogation of his father by Israeli forces.
The incident, reported by Palestinian media, including Palestine TV and journalist Osama Al-Kahlout, has raised urgent questions about human rights violations and the treatment of civilians, particularly children, in conflict zones.
According to the report, the child, identified as Karim, believed to be around one year old, was detained alongside his father near the Al-Maghazi refugee camp in the central Gaza Strip.

The father, Osama Abu Nassar, had reportedly been on his way to purchase basic supplies when he was caught in gunfire close to his home. Witnesses claim that Israeli soldiers forced him to leave his young child on the ground and proceed toward a nearby military checkpoint, where he was stripped and interrogated.

What followed, according to Palestinian sources, has shocked observers. It is alleged that the child was subjected to acts of torture in front of his father in an attempt to extract confessions.

A medical report cited by local media claims the toddler suffered burn marks consistent with cigarette burns, along with puncture wounds in his leg, allegedly caused by a sharp object. Images circulating in media reports appear to show visible injuries on the child’s legs, intensifying concerns over the incident.
After approximately 10 hours, the child was reportedly released and returned to his family through the International Committee of the Red Cross at Al-Maghazi.
However, the father remains in Israeli detention, with his family appealing to international organisations for intervention and his release, citing both his physical and mental health conditions.
The incident has drawn strong reactions from activists and observers, who argue that it reflects a broader pattern of alleged mistreatment of Palestinian detainees during the ongoing conflict.
Reports from various human rights groups have previously raised concerns about interrogation methods, including claims of coercion and abuse used to obtain confessions.
The larger context of the conflict continues to add weight to the situation. Since October 2023, the war in Gaza has resulted in tens of thousands of casualties and widespread destruction of civilian infrastructure.
Even after a ceasefire agreement in October 2025, violence and humanitarian concerns have persisted, with hundreds reported killed and injured in subsequent incidents.
