Dubai, United Arab Emirates: Murugananth Govinthan, a 42‑year‑old Indian expat has secured Dh5 million second prize in the new format of the Lucky Day draw. The Indian expat’s dream of owning a home for his family, who had been staying in rented accommodation, has become reality.

The UAE Lottery announced the identity of the winner of the jackpot on Wednesday, February 25, making a life-changing prize for him. Notably, Govinthan struck luck on his first attempt after registering for The UAE Lottery and purchasing his first ticket. Since Govinthan shared the ticket with a close friend, the two will split the second prize.

Speaking about the jackpot win, Govinthan says that he could not stop thinking about everything he have been through over the past three years. “my marriage, my children’s education, and all the responsibilities on my shoulders. That’s why I came to the UAE. I didn’t expect this to happen so soon. I feel very happy,” the winner added.

The top prize of Dh30 million still unclaimed since the introduction of the new format.
