Iran Ships Millions Of Barrels Of Oil Through Strait Of Hormuz To China Amid Conflict: Report
Tehran, Iran: Iran has reportedly shipped over 11.7 million barrels of crude oil to China via the Strait of Hormuz since the US-Israel attack and Tehran’s counterstrikes began on February 28, reports CNBC. Tehran’s closure of the strait has impacted the vital oil supply route in the world, after the US intensified its attack across Iranian cities.
All the crude oil shipments from Iran were sent to China through the Strait, says Samir Madani, co-founder of Tanker Trackers. Tanker Trackers is a company that monitors vessel movements with satellite imagery, allowing it to capture vessels that would otherwise go undetected.

“Given that China has been the primary buyer of Iranian crude in recent years, a significant share of these barrels could ultimately head there,” CNBC quoted Nhway Khin Soe, crude analyst at Kpler.
The narrow waterway has been critical to the transportation of about one-fifth of the world’s oil and gas, and the conflict in West Asia has made the shipping traffic slow. Iran has warned tankers and ships passing through the Strait that it would attack them, making the tankers avoid the route duo to potential attacks.
