Clashes between Houthis and US-led coalition has been going intense in the Red Sea. The conflict has caused worry about growing possibilities of conflagration of the Gaza war to wider regions. The issue was even taken to United Nations Security Council, with 13 members voting in favour, asking the Houthis to stop the attack, while Russia and China abstained. The Yemeni group declined the accusation of violating international laws as said in the UN resolution.

Houthis vowed to keep attacking the shipping that have any link with Israel, until Netanyahu stopped the genocidal bombing on Gaza. Houthi intervention in the major maritime trade route has caused great disruption globally. Iran has been accused of providing ammunitions and intelligence to the Yemeni group.

During an interview with a member of Yemen’s Supreme Council, Mohammed Ali al-Houthi, BBC anchor asked whether the Iranian intelligence are helping Houthis on the information about the ownership of the vessels passing through the Suez Canal, the Houthi leader said, he is not aware of any such happening. The anchor asked why Houthis are intervening in the Palestinian issue which is happening “miles and miles away”, as Yemen have their own issues like the Saudi led coalition. She asked what else was the motive of Houthi attack on Red Sea other than acting upon direction (from Iran).

The Houthi leader gave an interesting reply, and asked, whether Biden is Netanyahu’s neighbour. He asked “do they live in same flat? And the President of France also live on the same floor? And the British Prime Minister lives in the same building? Or are they thousands of miles away from the occupying entity?”. He asked what bring the West leaders to the Arab countries, “to kill our children, to siege our children, brothers, and sisters…”. What else bring the Western leaders to the region other than to take part in the crimes. Al-Houthi said, their stance is humanitarian, aiming to stop the military, the “European-American machines of destruction” from continuing their war and terrorism on Palestine.

Meanwhile the situation in the region is getting fragile, as US and UK launched strikes against what they say Houthi military targets in Yemen, as a retaliation to Houthis attack in Red Sea. US military command, CENTCOM said US and UK forces conducted the attack with support from Australia, Canada, the Netherlands and Bahrain “on Houthi targets to degrade their capability”.
