Major Fire At Key Oil Refinery In Australia Amid Fuel Shortage Fears Due To War On Iran
Canberra, Australia: A key oil refinery caught fire on Thursday, April 16, after suspected gas lead amid fears of fuel shortage due to the war on Iran and supply disruptions.
The site is one of the two key refineries in Australia, which produces around 10% of the country’s fuel supply, Al Jazeera reported.

The Emergency crews rushed to the refinery after reports of explosion as dozens of workers were on site at the time of the incident. Officials have confirmed that all the workers were safely evacuated from the site, adding that no injuries were reported.
The incident hits the production function of the facility, which produces about 50 percent of the fuel used in the state of Victoria, and it is likely to effect the petrol production too. Australia is already facing mounting pressure on fuel supplies linked to global instability.

The refinery processes around 120,000 barrels of oil per day, playing an important role in supplying fuel in the country. Parts of the facility has been damaged though the fire has been extinguished immediately.
