Marvel Studios and Walt Disney declared ending of the contract with the actor Jonathan Majors from their project shortly after he was convicted of assaulting and harassing Grace Jabbari, his then girlfriend.

On Monday, the Marvel star was convicted of one count of the reckless assault in the 3rd degree and a non-criminal charge of harassment as a violation.

Priya Chaudhry, an attorney for Majors, told CNN in a statement that he “still has faith in the process and looks forward to fully clearing his name”.

Before the arrest of the actor, he was positioned as the key figure in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. He acted as the time-travelling villain factored into the year’s Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania as well as both the seasons of Loki. He was also casted in the upcoming movie Avengers: The Kang Dynasty in the lead role which was slated to be released on May 1, 2026. And it is unclear whether the character of the Kang will be recast.

Apart from Marvel, Major was once considered as one of the rising stars of the Hollywood. In addition to Quantumania, he starred in Creed III in 2023. He first rose to prominence with The Last Black Man in San Francisco, and went on to star in Devotion, Lovecraft Country, The Harder They Fall and Da 5 Bloods.

Major was arrested on March 25, after he called 911 claiming that he has found his ex-partner unconscious lying in his New York apartment. Police said that they have found injuries on Jabbari, including bruises and fractured fingers, and cut behind an ear. While, Major pled guilty to all charges, reports Hollywood Reporter.

Major is set to be sentenced in February and faces up to a year in prison for the third degree assault charge, reports BBC.
