The morning shift started at 8:30 am and will go till 1 pm and the second shift will take place from 1:30 pm to 7:30 pm. Major student organizations, the National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) and the Akhil Bharatiya Vidhyarthi Parishad (ABVP) expressed confidence in their victory.
The elections are going on amid the election conditions put by the Delhi High Court which include that the university cannot count votes until all campaign-related materials such as posters, hoardings, and graffiti have been removed and public property restored. The vote counting was scheduled for Saturday however, the court directives will delay the process. Also, the court ordered that the electronic voting machines (EVMs) and the ballot boxes be securely stored until further notice.
During this election, the NSUI has pitched for the students’ concerns regarding paper leaks and fee hikes. In an interview with ANI, the NSUI National President Varun Choudhary showed confidence in winning all four seats and urged students to vote in larger numbers.

Professor Satyapal Singh, the Chief Election Officer for DUSU 2024-25, has said that students who were admitted to Delhi University by September 25 2024 are eligible to vote in the elections. This is to ensure the legitimacy of the elections.
In last year’s elections, the ABVP secured 3 out of four central panel seats, including the president post. While NSUI’s Abhi Dahiya was the only member of the student organisation being elected as vice president in 2023.
