PIL Filed Against Differential Difficulty Level Across CBSE Paper Sets

Educator Prashant Kirad is seeking to file Public Interest Litigation (PIL) against the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), alleging that it failed to maintain the exam difficulty level across multiple sets. Karad claims that it discriminates against the students through question papers, where the exam’s difficulty level depended on their luck and region.

According to Karad, the first differentiation happened during the Class 10 Mathematics exam, where some sets were easier while others required JEE Main and Advanced-level knowledge. Again, the same thing was observed in the Class 12 Physics exam.

The differential level of difficulty creates variation in mark allocation and performance. This will lead to inequality among the children who have worked hard but could not get equivalent marks due to the level of the question paper.

As per the students and teachers, different paper sets contained different questions. Some questions were easier, while some were difficult.

The educator has demanded easier checking for the tough sets or to give grace marks to those students.

Notably, the exam copies will be evaluated in digital mode this year.
