Union Minister for Women and Child Development and BJP leader Smriti Irani, addressing a public meeting in Telangana“s Dubbaka on Friday said that voting for Congress is voting for Bharat Rashtra Samthi (BRS).

Addressing the “Naari Shakti Vandan Mahila Sammelan” programme held at the Dubbaka Assembly constituency, the BJP leader claimed that “Any vote for the Congress is a vote for the Bharat Rashtra Samthi (BRS), as the elected Congress MLAs will eventually migrate to BRS after elections.”

Congress and corruption are two sides of the same coin, the minister said. She, then urged the people that “Just like we (BJP) chased away Rahul Gandhi from Amethi in UP and then from Wayanad in Kerala, you have to drive away BRS from Telangana.”

Ms Irani criticised K Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) – led BRS Government for their failure in meeting the expectations of the people promised under ‘Neellu, Nidhulu, and Niyamakalu’ (Water, funds, and jobs) pact and deceiving them. “In the Kaleshwaram project, the KCR Government pumped costs from Rs 40,000 crore to Rs 1 lakh crore but failed to irrigate even 60 per cent of the projected land,” Minister said.

She, then, raised questions about the unemployment in the state: “While the service commission failed in recruiting the unemployed, all the family members of KCR are employed,” Ms Irani indicated.

Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project or KLIP is on the Godavari River in Telangana”s Kaleshwaram. The multi-purpose irrigation project aims to irrigate 18.26 lakh acres of land spanning 13 districts, and facilitate water for industries and drinking water to Hyderabad and Secunderabad.

Telangana will go to booths on November 30 and counting of the votes will takes place on December 3. The state will witness a strong three-way contest between Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), the Congress and the BJP in the upcoming assembly election.

Apart from Telangana, Mizoram, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and Rajasthan, are going to assembly polls by the end of the year.
