Telangana Election Results: Ahmed Bin Abdullah Balala Wins Malakpet Assembly

Ahmed Bin Abdullah Balala of All India Majlis-E-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) won in the Malakpet constituency by defeating the Congress candidate Shaikh Akbar in Telangana assembly election 2023. Ahmed Bin Abdullah Balala was the member of Telangana legislative assembly since 2009. Malakpet witnessed a strong three cornered fight between Abdullah Balala, Shaikh Akbar and Bharatiya Janata Party Chief Sam Reddy Surendar Reddy. Ahmed Bin Abdullah Balala was polled 55,805 votes and retained his rule in Malakpet. Shaikh Akbar came second by achieving 296,99 votes. The BJP candidate Samreddy Surendar Reddy who came third  garnered 23,731 votes. This is the 4th time that Ahmed Bin Balala continuously wins from the Malakpet constituency. He first won the seat in 2009 and retained it in 2014 and 2018 polls.

The elections to Telangana state assembly was held on November 30 for 119 seats. Malakpet is the assembly seat in the Greater Hyderabad region and is one of the 15 constituencies in the capital city of Hyderabad. The constituency include general and urban seats. It is part of the Hyderabad Lok Sabha constituency. In the 2023 elections, there were a total of 3,11,824 electors in Malakpet. Malakpet covers an approximate area of 9 square kilometres.

In the 2014 assembly elections, Ahmad Bin Abdullah Balala of AIMIM defeated Venkat Reddy of BJP in Malakpet. Ahmad Bin Abdullah gathered total of 58,976 votes which was 47.24% of total votes. Venkat Reddy secured 35,713 votes which consisted of 28.61% of total votes. The BRS candidate C.Satish Kumar was in the third position with 11,378 votes.

In the 2018 assembly elections also Abdullah Balala could gather the majority votes. He got 53,281 votes which was 42.86% of the total votes polled. He defeated Mohammed Muzaffar of TDP who gathered 29,769 votes which was 23.95% of total votes polled. The constituency had 2,93,491 electors then. The BJP candidate A. Jeetendra had came in third position with 20,880 votes.

Overall, according to the latest reports, out of the total 119 seats in Telangana, Indian National Congress is leading with the 64 seats and Bharat Rashtra Samithi is in the second position. Bharatiya Janata Party is in the third position in the total seat share with 8 seats. Along with Telangana, the assembly elections were held in other states including Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Mizoram. The result of these states except Mizoram have also been announced today.
