Bharat Rashtra Samithi candidate Maganti Gopinath defeated Congress candidate Mohammed Azharuddin, who was the former renowned cricketer and captain of the Indian National team, from the Jubilee Hills constituency in the Telangana assembly election 2023. The Jubilee hills witnessed a tough three cornered competition between Maganti Gopinath, Mohammed Azharuddin and Bharatiya Janata Party candidate Lankala Deepak Reddy, a member of its state executive committee. Maganti gopinath won 80,549 votes and retained his seat at a margin of 16,337 votes. Mohammed Azharuddin won 64,212 votes and came in second position in election. The BJP candidate Lankala Deepak Reddy who came third garnered 25,866 votes.
The Jubilee Hills assembly constituency comes under the Hyderabad district and is one of the 119 Telangana assembly seats that went to polls on November 30.
Maganti Gopinath, who was the former member of District Consumer Forum won the previous two elections. In 2014, he won the election under the banner of Telugu Desam Party(TDP).
In 2014 assembly elections also Maganti Gopinath was the winner of Jubilee Hills. But he participated in the election under the banner of TDP. Maganti Gopinath swept away the polls and succeeded in Jubilee Hills by defeating Naveen Yadav who was the candidate of AIMIM. Gopinath was polled 50,898 votes and Naveen was polled 41656 votes. Here in this election, Naveen was defeated at the margin of 9,242 votes.
In 2018 elections Jubilee Hills assembly constituency recorded a voter turnout of 46.70%. That time also, Maganti Gopinath was the winner in the Jubilee Hills.This time he was participated in election under the banner of Bharat Rashtra Samithi. In this phase, Gopinath defeated Indian National Congress’ Vishnuvardhan Reddy. Gopinath was polled 68,979 votes which consisted 44.30% of total votes polled. Vishnuvardhan Reddy acquired 52,975 votes which was 34.04% of total votes polled. Independent candidate Naveen Yadav came in the third position by securing 18,817 votes. The jubilee Hills constituency had 341,537 total electors and 19 candidates then.
Overall, according to the latest reports, out of the total 119 seats in Telangana, Indian National Congress is leading with 64 seats and Bharat Rashtra Samithi is in the second position. Bharatiya Janata Party is in the third position in the total seat share with 8 seats. Along with Telangana, the assembly elections were held in other states including Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Mizoram. The result of these states except Mizoram have also been announced today.
