Lee Sun Kyun, south Korean actor, died today, December 27. The star’s death left south Korea in shock. Korean media said the Parasite actor was found dead inside a parked car in Waryong park, as per reports from Seoul Seongbuk Police Station. South Korean Police said they responded to an emergency call from a woman who complained about her husband leaving house “after writing a note that resembles a will”. Additional evidence from the car such as burning charcoal briquettes indicated suicide. The probe into the death is still under process.

The renowned actor was subjected to public scrutiny for a drug case. He has been under the police investigation for the said drug case since October. The actor even withdrew from several of his projects, said media report. He was accused of alleged use of illegal drugs at the house of a hostess of a high-end bar in Seoul. According to Reuters, he was subjected to questioning thrice, with one session extending to 19 hours this weekend.

Mr. Lee claimed that he was blackmailed by one of the other accused in the case and added that he was unaware that the substance he consumed was an illegal drug. As per Yonhap, a Korean news outlet, Mr. Lee was tested negative during two drug tests, one among which was a quick reagent test by the police and another one was done by National Forensic Service. However, the hostess who accused Mr. Lee, maintained her claims. In response to which, Mr. Lee requested police to conduct a polygraph test to find out who was lying.

After his death, his agency, HODU&U Entertainment issued a statement that read, “there is no way to contain the sorrow and despair. We respectfully ask that you refrain from spreading false facts based on speculation…so that (Lee’s) final journey will not be unfair.
