Jinguchaa, the first single of legendary director Mani Ratnam and Kamal Haasan’s Thug Life, is trending widely on the internet. The AR Rahman composition, which was touted to be the wedding anthem, will surely light up the floor of celebrations this year. In the recent audio launch of the film, the legendary musician has opened up about the challenges he faced during the composition. And here it is:

Thug Life, the second collaboration of actor Kamal with director Mani Ratnam, holds great expectations of the fans. Assuring the fans a sureshot action thriller, AR Rahman remarked, “Thug Life isn’t going to be the same as Mani Ratnam and Kamal Haasan’s previous collaboration, Nayakan.”

According to Rahman, even though this film marks the reunion of the two veteran visionaries, this film will be nothing like Nayakan, which was the classic collaboration between Kamal ji, Mani Ratnam, and Mr. Ilaiyaraaja. But he promised it to be a different beast.

About composing the albums of Thug Life, AR Rahman said, “It is a very forward-thinking film, especially when it comes to its music.” The Oscar winning composer also shared his interesting encounter on his 19th collaboration with the director, saying, “One day, he called me and said, ‘I need you to be in full form.’ And I understood how driven he is about the work going into his film.”

Jinguchaa, the first single of Thug Life, which was released yesterday, had already begun to take over all the social media platforms. Moreover, the wedding anthem of the film hits 17 million views within a day and has been trending on YouTube.

The soundtrack by A R Rahman marks his 19th collaboration with Mani Ratnam and third with Kamal Haasan. Notably, Kamal Hassan himself penned lyrics for one of the songs in the album. Rahman praised the synergy of the team and hinted at more genre-defying music to come.  Thug Life is slated to hit theaters worldwide on June 5, 2025.
