With the releases of Retro and Tourist Family, this summer has kickstarted with a variety of entertainers for the Tamil audience. Both the films have set up an intense clash at the box office with their release dates scheduled on the same day, May 1. Amidst the clash, producer Yuvaraj Ganesan has revealed the reason behind the film’s clash with the action entertainer of Suriya.
Helmed by debutant director Abishan Jeevinth, Tourist Family unites prominent stars Simran and actor-director Sasikumar. Offering a hilarious ride while exploring the life of refugees, the comedy entertainer stars Yogi Babu, M. S. Bhaskar, Ramesh Thilak, Bagavathi Perumal, Elango Kumaravel, and Sreeja Ravi.

While this clash created significant buzz among the audience, producer Yuvaraj has revealed that the film has no intention of clashing with Retro.
Addressing the clash, the producer said that now OTT is deciding the release dates based on the slot of streaming. He revealed that since they have signed the film to stream on OTT at the end of May, the team has no option other than releasing the film on May 1, despite the clash.
Apart from Retro, the film will also face a clash with Nani’s action entertainer, HIT 3, which is set to be released in Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada and Hindi.

Tourist Family runtime and certification
As per the makers, the CBFC has censored the film with a “U” certificate with a runtime spanning exactly 2 hours and 8 minutes.
Tourist Family tells the story of a Sri Lankan Tamil family of four who travel to Tamil Nadu seeking refuge. The film captures their struggles as they try to settle into a new country and neighbourhood. It blends emotions and humour, promising to offer a compelling family drama.
Jointly produced by Million Dollar Studios and MRP Entertainments, the film is backed by producers Nasareth Baslian, Mahesh Raj Baslian and Yuvaraj Ganesan. The cinematography is handled by Aravind Viswanathan, and editing was done by Bharath Vikraman. The music of the film is scored by Shaan Rahman.
