Cyclone Michaung on Tuesday after noon started its landfall process near the Andhra Pradesh coast. According to the Indian Meterological Department (IMD), entire process of landfall is about to last for three hours. The landfall has began near Bapatla on Andhra Pradesh coast after causing heavy and continuous rainfall in Tamil Nadu. The official report indicate the storm is now crossing the coast with windspeed of 90-100 kmph gusting to 110 kmph.


Receiving the information, chief minister of Andhra Pradesh YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has asked all the officers and departments to be on high alert, equipped for undertaking immediate relief and rescue measures. Taking view of the heavy downpour due to the impact of cyclonic storm, state government announced an alert for eight districts namely, Tirupati, Nellore, Prakasam, Bapatla, Krishna, West Godavari, Konaseema and Kakinada and the chief minister has set several relief measures in action. Besides, National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) teams have been allocated along the Andhra coast.

In Chennai, the heavy rainfall and strong winds due to Cyclonic storm resulted the death of eight people. Though rain has stopped in Chennai, the different party of the city and roads are still submerged. The influence of cyclonic storm resulted in power and internet disconnection.
