Cyclone Michaung: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin Urges Immediate Interim Relief, Writes To PM Modi (twitter.com/chennaicorp)

Tamil Nadu Chief minister MK Stalin on Wednesday requested Prime Minister Narendra Modi to release Rs.5060 crore as an interim relief to take up restoration activities in Cyclone-hit regions. Besides, Chief Minister urged the Prime Minister to send a central team to review the damages posed by the Cyclone in the state.

Addressing the Prime Minister, CM Stalin said on X that due to the Cyclonic storm, regions like Chennai, Tiruvallur, Kanchipuram, and Chengalpattu were adversely affected. He also added that state”s infrastructure has been severely hit, it is impacting lakhs and several are wrestling with floodwaters. Chief Minister also added that they are in the process of preparing a comprehensive report to assess the requirement for additional funds.

“Our people are facing unprecedented challenges, but I am confident that, united, we will emerge stronger from this adversity,” he added.

Meanwhile, on Wednesday PM Modi said on X: “My thoughts are with the families of those who have lost their loved ones due to Cyclone Michaung, especially in Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and Puducherry.”

India Meteorological Department (IMD) informed that remaining Cyclone Michaung weakened into a Deep Depression over Central Coastal Andhra Pradesh.

In Chennai, the heavy rainfall and strong winds due to Cyclonic storm resulted in flooding and cost 17 lives so far. Though rain has stopped in Chennai, the different party of the city and roads are still struggling with stagnant water.
