Kerala police lodged a First Information Report (FIR) against Union Minister of State Rajeev Chandrasekhar on Tuesday, accusing him of pronouncing statements that promote hostility between different groups. The case was registered in connection with minister”s recent controversial remark on serial Blasts in Kerala. Mr Chandrasekhar associated Kochi blasts with terrorism and called it after effect of the appeasement politics in Kerala.

Hours after the reports of serial bomb blasts at a Jehovah’s Witnesses prayer convention on Ernakulam”s Kalamassery on Sunday, Minister took to social media platform X  and criticised Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on “appeasement politics.”

Attacking Mr Vijayan, he wrote: “Dirty shameless appeasement politics by a discredited CM (and HM) Pinarayi Vijayan besieged by corruption charges. Sitting in Delhi and protesting against Israel, when in Kerala open calls by Terrorist Hamas for Jihad is causing attacks and bomb blasts on innocent Christians.”

Following this, a war of words exchanged between Chief Minister and the Union Minister. The cases against Mr Chandrasekhar were registered under Section 153 (wantonly giving provocation with an intent to cause riot) and 153-A (promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion) of Indian Penal Code Section 120 (o) (causing nuisance and violation of public order) of the Kerala Police Act.

Meanwhile, Congress Kerala, or the Kerala PCC has also filed a complaint against Mr Chandrasekhar, and BJP leader Anil Antony for spreading hate and attempting to create communal strife in Kerala through their “volence-inciting and defamatory statements,” about Kalamassery blasts.

Responding to cases filed against him, Minister said that Congress and CPI(M) are trying to threaten him with a case for exposing their appeasement of Hamas.

In twitter, sharing the copy of complaints, Mr Chandrasekhar wrote: “So the two INDI alliance partners Rahul Gandhi and Pinarayi Vijayan have jointly filed a “case” against me. Two of biggest appeasers in Indian politics who shamelessly appease poisonous radical violent organizations like SDPI, PFI and Hamas, whose politics have caused radicalization over decades from J&K to Punjab to Kerala and caused many innocent lives and security forces lives to be lost – trying to threaten me with a case for exposing their appeasement of Hamas.”

In the Sunday blasts, 3 people were killed, and more than 50 were injured. Hours later, a man called Martin Dominick, claimed to be an estranged member of Jehovah”s Witnesses took responsibility for the multiple blasts and surrendered.
