"Immediate And Strict Action": Women's Commission Sent Letter To EC Supriya Shrinate's Comments On Kangana Ranaut

The National Commission of Women (NCW) has urged action against Congress spokesperson Supriya Shrinate over her objectional Instagram post. As Kangana Ranaut to make poll debut for BJP from Himachal Pradesh”s Mandi, an offensive post by Congress leader on actor has launched new controversy.

In an X post, Women”s commission wrote that they are “appalled by the disgraceful conduct” of Congress spokesperson and party leader HS Ahir against Kangana Ranaut and stated that “such behaviour is intolerable and goes against the dignity of women.” Besides, Women”s body chief Rekha Sharma through a letter to the Election Commission of India (ECI), has demanded “an immediate and strict action” against both Congress leaders.

It was on Monday, Supriya Shrinate shared a post on Instagram featuring Queen actress with a derogatory caption. Though the post has been taken down, it has sparked controversy.

Meanwhile, the actress on social media responded to Supriya Shrinate”s post and wrote that every women deserves her dignity. In the post, Kangana Ranaut stated that in the 20 years of her career as artist, she has played all kinds of women roles, whether be a naive girl in Queen, a goddess in Manikarnika, a prostitute in Rajjo or a revolutionary leader in Thalaivii.

“We must free our daughters from the shackles of prejudices, we must rise above the curiosity about their body parts and above all we must refrain from using sex workers challenging lives or circumstances as some kind of abuse or slur… every woman deserves her dignity…,” she added.

Congress spokesperson has issued a clarification via video and said that many people have access to her Facebook and Instagram accounts, and one among them made the “disgusting and objectionable” post, which she then been deleted.

“Anyone who knows me knows very well that I don”t make personal remarks about any woman,” she added.
