Karnataka: Nurse Allegedly Hacked To Death By Stalker At BC Road KSRTC Bus Stand

Beltangadi, Karnataka: A 22-year-old nurse was allegedly hacked to death with a sword at the new KSRTC bus stand in B.C Road on Thursday evening. The shocking incident took place in full public view.

The murder occurred reportedly after the victim rejected the accused’s advances. The accused, a distant relative of the victim and a resident of Odilnala village under Kuvertu Gram Panchayat in Beltangadi taluk, is absconding. Police have launched a search operation to apprehend him.

The deceased has been identified as Lavanya, a resident of Kodange near Kakkepadavu in Keli village. The incident took place at around 5.45 pm when Lavanya completed her day shift at Kalladka Pushparaj Nursing Home.

She reached the B.C. Road KSRTC bus stand to board a bus home when the accused allegedly confronted her. Armed with a sword, he allegedly attacked her from behind, inflicting a fatal blow to the back of her head before fleeing the scene. The weapon was recovered from the spot, and Lavanya died on the spot due to the severity of her injuries.

The accused had been monitoring Lavanya’s movements and was aware of her daily travel schedule. Police said preliminary investigations revealed that Chethan had been pressuring Lavanya for some time to enter into a romantic relationship with him. She had consistently refused his proposals. A case has been registered at the Bantwal Police Station under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Multiple police teams have been formed to trace the absconding accused.
