Mandsaur, Madhya Pradesh: The unexpected heavy rain posed great woe to farmers at Mandsaur’s Krishi Upaj Mandi on Friday afternoon. They helplessly witnessed their market-ready garlic stocks worth lakhs of rupees getting soaked and damaged due to sudden downpour.
The sudden rainfall compelled farmers to helplessly strive to protect their garlic, but they could not help but see some of their produce flowing with the rainwater.

The rainfall affected several regions including Kayampur, Daloda Pipaliyamandi, Malhargarh and Suwasra. Aside from heavy downpour, hailstorms has also accompanied in rural areas such as Digao Malya.The widespread rain has caused mayhem in the agricultural market with many farmers facing significant financial catastrophe as their crops were destroyed.
Sharing the snippets of video from Mandsaur Mandi, the netizens criticise the farm laws of the Central government and also raise concerns regarding the possibility of sudden spike in prices for garlic.

Aside from the sudden damage to market produce, the unexpected change in the weather system resulted in a sharp dip in temperatures across the district. The sudden change caused much dismay to residents since they are unprepared of the such intense cold conditions. The areas such as Kayampur, Daloda Pipaliyamandi, Malhargarh, and Suwasra where mostly affected by this instant change in weather.

Meanwhile, the nearby town of Garoth found the unexpected heavy rainfall to be beneficial. The town received a heavy downpour for about half an hour on Friday afternoon, which began around 4 pm and extended to nearby villages. Farmers in Garoth expects that rains would positively impact crops like wheat, gram, mustard and garlic growing in their fields. The recent foggy conditions had also earlier lessened the intensity of cold weather in the region and the additional moisture from the rain is also expected to further bolster crop health.
