'Safe Only Because Of Modi': Indian Woman's 'Japan Not Safe' Remark Sparks Trolls

Prime Minister Narendra Modi landed in Tokyo on Friday for a two-day official visit to the Southeast Asian country. The Indian leader addressed the India-Japan Economic Forum and underlined the strength of bilateral ties, and invited Japanese companies to expand their investments in India.

Notably, amid PM Modi’s Japan visit, a video is doing the rounds on social media, in which a woman says she has been living in Japan for the past eight years and does not feel safe in the country. However, she adds that they are managing to live there just because of the ‘connections’ of PM Modi. Netizens hilariously responded that PM Modi controls Japan’s law and order, and the country is safe because of the Indian Prime Minister, while tagging Japanese Police and law enforcement agencies.

Netizens have trolled the woman, calling her a new Paw Paw girl. Terming her Ankbhatths, a usage by social media users and trollers to refer to blind BJP or PM Modi supporters, several handlers questioned the integrity of her comment while in Japan. A user, Nunu, pointed out staying eight years somewhere but calling it ‘not safe’ feels like a plot twist nobody asked for.

“If Japan isn’t safe, then where is it? Maybe it’s not about the place but the privilege. “Connections or common sense—what truly keeps us secure?” the user asked. Another user, Said, if safety in Japan depends on Modi’s ‘connections,’ then how do people survive in other countries without them? “Modi bhakts pick and choose when to trust connections—hypocrisy at its best,” the user added.

Many dubbed it a PR work, while sharing several previous instances, including from the official handles of the saffron party. A user, Ravindra Bisht, pointed out that actors like these keep coming. “Modi ji and PR have an old relationship; he can’t even handle his PM post without cameras and PR,” he said, referring to the video from Japan.

“It’s also a matter of shame for Japan that a woman who has been living in Japan for 8 years is talking as if Modi personally checks on her well-being every day,” Bisht added.

Some sarcastically wrote, the woman should come back to India to “feel safer as a woman, under the ‘baap-type’ leadership of Modi.”
