Tamizhaga Vetri Kazhagam: Thalapathy Vijay Announces His Political Party (image:instagram.com/actorvijay/)
Thalapathy Vijay on Friday announced his political party, Tamizhaga Vetri Kazhagam. There have been speculations for years concerning his political entry and formation of political party. In last week, a Times of India report indicated that Vijay is all set to launch a political party soon.
The declaration comes after the top office-bearers from actor’s fan club-cum-welfare association, All India Thalapathy Vijay Makkal Iyakkam, underwent a meeting with Election Commission (ECI) officials in New Delhi. The meeting aimed to initiate the process of registering his political party, and it was attended by the organisation”s general secretary, Bussy Anand, and the fan association’s legal team.
In the statement, actor said: “We are making an application today to the EC to register our party ‘Tamizhaga Vetri Kazhagam’. Our goal is to contest and win the upcoming 2026 assembly elections and bring about the fundamental political change that people want,” India Today reports.

While issuing the statement, Vijay said that they are not going to contest in the 2024 elections and not going to support any party. They have made this decision for General and Executive Council Meeting.
He underlined that politics is not just another career or hobby for him, it is his “deepest desire”. “I want to fully involve myself in it,” the actor said.
“You are all aware of the current political climate. Administrative malpractices and corrupt political culture on the one hand, and a divisive political culture which strives to divide our people on the lines of caste and religion on the other hand. Everyone, especially, in Tamil Nadu is yearning for a fundamental political change that can lead to a selfless, transparent, caste-free, visionary, corruption-free and efficient administration,” actor said in the statement.
In last week, as per the reports, association held a meeting at the actor’s office in Panaiyur off East Coast Road discussing the matter and they unanimously elected him as the leader.
The actor is currently working on the project, The Greatest of All Time directed by Venkat Prabhu. The movie is set to hit theatres in July.
