The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has released the notification for the Civil Services Prelims Exam 2025 (CSE) and the Indian Forest Service (Prelims) exam today January 22, 2025. Candidates can visit the official website – upsc.nic.in for detailed notification. The CSE prelims exam is scheduled to be held on May 25, 2025.
This year the UPSC has released notice for the 979 vacancies across different services under central government. This year the number of posts decreased by 77 posts as in the last year, the number of vacancies was 1,056. UPSC has also announced 150 vacancies for the Indian Forest Service (IFS).

Total vacancies are 979 and 38 seats are reserved for PwBD with 12 for Blindness and low vision, 7 for Deaf and Hard of Hearing, 10 for candidates with locomotor disabilities, and 9 for multiple disabilities. However, the final number of vacancies may change based on the confirmation from the cadre controlling authorities.
UPSC CSE recruitment 2025: eligibility criteria
The academic qualification includes
- A candidate must possess a graduation degree from a recognized university or an equivalent qualification
- Final year students or those awaiting results are also eligible to apply
- Candidates with professional or technical qualifications are also eligible
- Medical students with an MBBS degree or in the last year of the course can apply but they are required to submit a course completion certificate

Step 1: Go to the official website – upsc.gov.in
Step 2: Click on the UPSC Civil Services Prelims Exam 2024 link available on the homepage
Step 3: Candidates must register themselves and fill out the detailed application form
