Abu Dhabi: Air Taxi Services To Begin Operations By Year-End

Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates: The revolutionary initiative by Abu Dhabi emirate, the air taxi services is all set to begin operation by the end of this end. According to senior transport officials, the air taxi operations are now “very close”, with services expected to start by the end of 2026 or the beginning of 2027.

The air taxi services will be a fully integrated mobility ecosystem spanning land, sea and air transport. With this, Abu Dhabi becomes one of the world’s first cities to launch commercial electric air taxi services.

US-based Archer Aviation has been working with Abu Dhabi authorities on the deployment of its Midnight electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft, with test flights already conducted in the emirate and infrastructure development underway.

While speaking at the Forbes Middle East Building the Future Summit, Dr Abdulla Hamad Al Ghfeli, Acting Director-General of the Integrated Transport Centre (ITC), said that one of the biggest challenges is ensuring passengers can move seamlessly between different forms of transportation without encountering gaps in the system.

“We have to make sure that the points of interaction between all the three points are there and accessible to the public,” he added.
