The Al Jazeera on Monday verified that the Israeli military forces targeted a convoy in Gaza that was following the safe route suggested by the Israel army at the time of immediate evacuation. Al Jazeera is a Qatari state-owned Arabic and English-language international news television network, and they did the validation process through their own private fact-checking agency called Sanad.

It was on Friday, the Israel Defense force announced an immediate evacuation of over a million people from Gaza, as the military loomed for a possible ground operation. The order was said to be in consideration of the safety and protection of the civilians and they were advised to move southwards of the city following the map marked by the military. The citizens were permitted to return to the city only once another announcement was produced by the Israeli military or administration.

The time given was 24 hours, and the prescribed area comprised 1.1 million people, or almost half of the Gaza Strip population. The exigency of the situation is the aftermath of the war triggered by the Hamas, an Islamist militant-political organisation, against Israel on Saturday, October 7.

In the recent published report by Al Jazeera, with the aid of Sanad, exposes that the Israeli army was executing a planned attack – cheating – while the Gaza populace tried to get out of the city through the ‘safe route’ mentioned by the military.

Quoting the statement posted on X (formerly Twitter) by the Israeli army personnel Avichay Adraee, Al Jazeera states that, the army ordered the citizens of Gaza to evacuate the city on October 13 through the ‘safe corridor’, and move to the southern Gaza Valley. Highlighting the safe path on a map, the military asserted that the citizens are free from attacks until 8 pm on that day.

Leaflets were dropped for the residents of Gaza carrying similar information. Those people who obeyed the warning and left the mentioned spot were soon subjected to bombing. Several videos surfaced on social media of the live incident, and the digital investigation team Sanad enquires about the matter.

After crucial verification of the accuracy, they identified the exact location and timing of the bombing. Both of the verticals, to the surprise, come into the same route and same time limit mentioned by the Israeli army as safe. Israel had given a deadline of 8 pm and the bombing, as per the findings, happened between 4.30 and 5.15 in the evening.

At least 70 civilians were reportedly killed in those attacks, all trying to evacuate from Gaza city. Hamas, in the meantime, warned the Gaza people to stay in the city.
