Nitish Kumar Leaves Mahagathbandhan, Will Be Sworn In As CM For Seventh Time With Support Of BJP

Amid Bihar chief minister and Janata Dal (United) chief Nitish Kumar’s exit from the INDIA bloc becoming more obvious, sources confirm that the deal with BJP has already been done, with the chief minister likely to share stage with Prime Minister Narendra Modi at his rally in Patna, Bihar on February 4, NDTV reported quoting sources. There were also reports yesterday that the Bihar chief minister will not enter the Bharat Jodo Nyaya Yathra when it enters the state on January 30, hinting at the ruptures with the Congress-led INDIA bloc.

With the political turmoil created by Nitish Kumar’s U-turn, the ruling JD(U)-RJD-Congress-left parties alliance, Mahagathbandhan has teetered, with the state BJP leaders looking skeptically at Nitish Kumar”s another switching. However, according to reports, the state BJP leaders have been told not to make unnecessary comments on the chief minister, with the BJP chief Samrat Chaudhary being called to Delhi to meet the the party chief JP Nadda and the Union Home Minister Amit Shah for deliberation.

Hindustan Awam Morcha leader Jitan Ram Manjhi today said that the ruling Bihar Mahagathbandhan government will fall, noting the alliance is being broken. According to sources, the Bihar chief minister may recommend the dissolution of the assembly and a new election.

However, according to the latest updates, Nitish Kumar is likely to stay as the Chief Minister with the support of the BJP and could be sworn in for the seventh time on Sunday. The BJP will have two deputy chief minister as per the report, NDTV reported.

With the walkout of another key leader from the relatively new INDIA alliance, the bloc seems to be losing its key figures. Within the past two days, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) led by Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal and the Trinamool Congress (TCM) led by the West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee ruled out the alliance with the INDIA bloc, declaring that they will contest alone in the general election.

However, Nitish Kumar has been switching alliances for the fourth time since 2023 and his fifth one is almost confirmed with his sharp criticism of the dynastic politics directed at the Congress and RJD. RJD leader Lalu Prasad Yadav”s daughter Rohini reacted to Nitish Kumar’s dynastic political comment saying that he who claims to be a socialist, keeps changing his ideology like the wind.
