“On the 12th of November, 16 years back, Slumdog Millionaire released in North America and spread like wild fire all over the planet… how time flies. This film keeps on giving, not only enriching my life with cherished relationships but also, in a rare way, continuing to provide financially. In today’s world, that’s something special. I’ll always be grateful for the opportunity and for the incredible people who made it possible, especially Danny Boyle, Paul Smith-and Christian collson,” wrote Kapoor.

Interestingly, the role of Prem Kumar was first offered to Shah Rukh Khan who was the host of the show on a television channel at the time. However, Khan refused the offer because the character was cheating and being dishonest. He didn’t feel right to play a dishonest character while being a host on KBC in real life as well. The role eventually went to Anil Kapoor.

Released in 2008, Slumdog Millionaire is loosely based on the novel Q & A (2005) by Vikas Swarup. Music genius AR Rahman won two Oscars—one for best original score and another for the song ‘Jai Ho.’ Since its release, Slumdog Millionaire has carved its place in popular culture.
