New Delhi: An Indian navy official has reportedly stated that the Iranian naval ship IRIS Dena was not a ‘guest of the Indian Navy, outside Indian territory and in international waters after leaving the country on Wednesday, February 25, Hindustan Times reported quoting government official.

The explanation comes amid rising criticism over the ill-fated ship was struck by a US attack in international waters in the Indian Ocean. The official further clarified that the ship did not ask for any help after war was declared on February 28.

Dena participated in the International Fleet Review (IFR) in Vizag from February 16 to February 25, and the Iranian ship was a ‘guest of the Indian Navy at the event.
