Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah came out in support of Congress leader and Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi after BJP members accused him of pushing two BJP MPs in Parliament on Thursday. A massive protest, demanding an apology and resignation from him, erupted outside the Parliament over Home Minister Amit Shah’s statements about Dr. BR Ambedkar.
“I know Rahul, he would not push anyone much less a member of parliament. It’s simply not in his nature to be rude or nasty to anyone,” tweeted Abdullah.

The allegations emerged after BJP MP Pratap Sarangi claimed that Rahul Gandhi had pushed an MP who fell on him.
“I was standing near the stairs when Rahul Gandhi came and pushed an MP who then fell on me,” Sarangi told the media as he was wheeled away in a wheelchair with a medical professional holding a bandage to the side of his head.
Union Minister Kiren Rijiju slammed Gandhi for allegedly “assaulting” Sarangi and BJP MP Mukesh Rajput, who was also “seriously injured.” Rijiju asked Gandhi, “Have you learnt karate, kung fu, to beat other MPs?”
Responding to the allegations, Rahul Gandhi denied them and claimed that a group of BJP MPs was blocking him from entering the Parliament, shoving him, and issuing threats against him and party president Mallikarjun Kharge.

Kharge also accused MPs from the saffron party of attacking him. “I was physically pushed by BJP MPs, lost my balance, and was forced to sit down on the ground in front of Makar Dwar.”
Corroborating him, Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi claimed that he saw the BJP MPs being “hostile and threatening” towards Kharge and Gandhi with sticks in their hands.
A chaotic scene unfurled outside the Parliament earlier today after both BJP and opposition MPs held protest marches against each other, followed by Home Minister Amit Shah’s remarks allegedly disrespecting Dalit icon Dr. BR Ambedkar.
