Dausa, Rajasthan: A five-year-old boy who was pulled out a 150-feet-deep borewell in Rajasthan’s Dausa on Wednesday, December 11, was declared dead after arrival at a hospital. The rescue operation went over 55 hours amidst challenging temperatures ended in vain.
It was while playing in a field in Kalikhad village on Monday (December 9) around 3 PM, Aryan fell into the borewell. The rescue operation began an hour later wherein JCBs, drilling machines and a piling rig were incorporated to dig a parallel pit to reach the child. Meanwhile, oxygen was constantly supplied to the boy through a pipe and CCTVs continuously observed boy’s movements.

The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and State Disaster Relief (SDRF) personnel pulled their best efforts to bring the child to safety. There were innumerable challenges in the operation, including the water level estimated to be around 160 feet. The difficulty in capturing the boy’s movements on camera due to steam underground and safety concerns for the rescue staff were also among the challenges in the operation, the NDRF personnel said.

When the child was pulled out in the night he was in an unconscious state. A green corridor was created to take the child to a hospital in an ambulance equipped with advanced life support system, the NDTV reports. However, he was declared dead.

The Chief Medical Officer in Dausa said that several attempts were made to save Aryan but all ended in failure.
“The child was brought here so that we could try and revive him if possible…we did ECG twice and the child has been declared dead,” the Hindu reports as Dausa CMO is saying.
