“Fresh, Bold, And Unique”: Lakshya-Raghav Juyal’s ‘Kill’ Reviews Out

Dharma Productions’ recent project, Kill, directed by Nikhil Nagesh Bhat, is leaving audiences in awe with its brilliant execution of a rather simple story and power-packed performances from fresh faces. The bloody and action-packed film, touted to be the most violent film made in the country, Kill lives up to its hype. Some might agree that it even surpasses it.

“Hindi cinema has never produced anything quite like Kill,” said NDTV. The film pushes the boundaries of violence and gore and goes all out with its elaborate display of blood and pain. According to the review, the film is “taut, tense, and terrifically inventive” with its violent acts and choreography inside the confines of a train through the night.

Choreographed by Parvez Shaikh and Se-yeong Oh, known for working on Snowpiercer and Bollywood films like War and Tiger 3, the stunts are well-choreographed and provide creative ways of incorporating the location, the train, and coming up with different methods of killing, observes Indian Express.

Making his debut is Lakshya, who has delivered a solid performance as an effective action hero, but it is Raghav Juyal who steals the show with what Scroll calls the film’s “prize-winning ticket.” Essaying the role of the psychotic character, Juyal revels in playing the character without becoming a caricature.

Produced by Karan Johar and Guneet Monga, the film follows the story of Amrit (Lakshya), deeply in love with Tulika (Tanya Maniktala), who is aboard the train from Ranchi to New Delhi with her father, Thakur Baldev Singh (Harsh Chhaya). When all seems to go well, a dacoit gang led by the maniacal Fani (Raghav Juyal) and his father Beni (Ashish Vidyarthi) disrupts the peace and seizes control of the train. What begins as a routine ride soon transforms into a struggle for survival and the protection of passengers.
