Akasa Air Co-Founder and CCO Praveen Iyer Resigns, A Year After Neelu Khatri's Exit
Akasa Air’s Chief Commercial Officer and one of the airline’s co founder Praveen Iyer has quit the company. One of the founding member of Akasa Air, which started flying in August 2022, Praveen Iyer was one of the executive committee members of the airline.
Iyar’s resignation comes a year after the airline saw the exit of another co-founder Neelu Khatri, who headed international operations.

The airline is supported by the late Rakesh Jhunjhunwala’s family and raised a fresh capital raised in August 2025 from family offices of Wipro founder Azim Premji and Ranjan Pai.
In a statement, Akasa airline announced the development, stating that Iyer has decided to move on to begin the next chapter of his life after a remarkable five- year journey. Iyer will partner closely with the leadership team to ensure a smooth and structured transition through April 30, 2026, the statement added.

Akasa Air has now four Co-founders – Aditya Ghosh, Anand Srinivasan, Belson Coutinho and Bhavin Joshi, and the airline has 33 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft currently.
